Balance & Falls Prevention

Balance & Falls Prevention Training

Anyone can fall, but as we age, our risk of falling increases.
Many injuries due to falls can be prevented.  The first step to avoiding falls is to understand what causes them such as:
  • poor balance & mobility
  • decreased muscle & bone strength,
  • reduced vision/hearing/cognitive functioning
  • unsafe environmental situations in / around your home
You CAN prevent falls!
According to Health Canada:
  • 1 in 3 seniors will have a fall each year and half of those will fall more than once.
  • 40% of seniors' falls result in hip fractures
  • 20% of injury-related deaths among seniors can be traced back to a fall
  • Seniors are injured at home more than any other location. The stairs and bathroom are particularly dangerous.
You can prevent falls by making needed adjustments to your environment & lifestyle such as eating well, getting regular exercise & using assistive devices to keep you safe in your daily life.

Many age-associated changes occurring in the body's systems that contribute to balance and mobility can be reversed, or at least compensated for, once they have been identified.

Specialized NeuroGym Training - Building on the Science of Neuroplasticity

Designed by a physiotherapist, Dr. Avi Nativ, the NeuroGym Technologies tools safely and effectively address important neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation challenges.  For many clients who have lost or are losing their motor skills,
conventional rehabilitation equipment does little to assist them in targeting specific muscles in a systematic way to regain strength, balance, range of motion and coordination.

From basic skills such as standing and static balance to the more demanding task of walking and dynamic balance to complex tasks of gross and fine motor control, the NeuroGym line of mobility training tools raise the bar for therapeutic outcomes.
